San Diego, California

San Diego may be what could be called the perfect place to live in the continental United States with mild summer like weather pretty much year round. On average San Diego's temperatures range from 57 degrees Fahrenheit to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, it has been known to dip down to 49 degrees Fahrenheit in December and up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit in August. However, the rain amount per year is usually less than 12 inches, which gives San Diego a borderline arid climate.

San Diego is situated on the San Diego Bay where you can enjoy calm waters with Coronado and Point Loma separating San Diego from the harsh waves coming in from the ocean. However, the ocean is close by and can be as exciting as an afternoon in an amusement park, watching the ships come in and out of the bay. One major attraction along the shoreline are the US military vessels that are seen often in the area since San Diego is home to United States Navy, United States Coast Guard and United States Marine Corps bases.

Not only does San Diego have perfect weather, the ocean, and the unique San Diego Bay but it also is home to many world-renowned attractions such as The San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World, San Diego Wild Animal Park and Old Town. All of these are wonderful additions to a city that has many wonderful recreational attractions.

Talking a walk or even a bus or car ride will give you the thrill of the deep canyons that separate San Diego's mesas that create unique parkland areas for all to enjoy.

Long before San Diego is what it is today, the Kumeyaay people lived in this area. The first European to arrive here was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo who was a Portuguese explorer. He sailed his ship the San Salvador from Mexico into the bay and claimed the area for Spain naming it San Miguel. However, in 1602, Sebastian Vizcaino came to the area aboard his ship by the name of San Diego. He explored the areas of what is today Mission Bay and Point Loma, giving the area the name for the Spanish Catholic saint St. Didacus that is commonly referred to as San Diego.

Form that day forward, San Diego has seen many visitors and travelers seeking to find the perfect place to live and prosper and many found that San Diego had everything they could for.
